We're not even sure who to blame

It might be Lenny B, host of the "More Music Morning Show" on Smooth 98.1 radio. He's been encouraging his listeners. Maybe it's Judy Macomber at Pet Lovers Publications. She plastered it all over her website. It could be our new friends from Friends of County Animal Shelters who have been spreading the word like a southern California wildfire.

But now we're facing a dilemma. Rancho Coastal Humane Society's "Celebration of Second Chances...FOCAS on the Future" is coming up Saturday, September 29 at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. We're running out of tickets, and the last-minute rush hasn't even started, yet.

Imagine standing on the patio overlooking the championship golf course at 5:30 in the afternoon. You're enjoying the company of other animal lovers. There's a refreshing beverage in your hand. Live piano music helps set the tone. The aroma coming out of the kitchen is making your mouth water. This is going to be an evening to remember.

Or.....You can stay home, toss a pizza in the oven, drink a beer, and watch a rerun of "Seinfeld." Whoop-te-doo!

* The chefs at the Del Mar Country Club will prepare a feast. * Jeff Zevely from News 8 will return as Master of Ceremonies. * And we'll debut a new video about the merger of Friends Of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) into RCHS. * Our own Celebration D.J. providing dance music. Proceeds will help to provide services for people and animals.
