Thank you for making our Celebration of Second Chances: FOCAS on the future a true success!

-- Guests at the "Celebration of Second Chances - FOCAS on the Future" benefiting Rancho Coastal Humane Society admitted to wearing "real fur." Nearly 250 animal lovers attended the event on Saturday, September 29 at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. By the way....the fur got stuck on their clothes when they hugged their dogs and cats before leaving home to attend the Celebration.

Festivities began at 5:30 with a cocktail reception on the patio overlooking the championship golf course at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. Guests enjoyed a beautiful sunset at 6:30 followed by a full moon at 8:20.

News 8 reporter Jeff Zevely hosted the event for the second year, introducing RCHS President Jim Silveira and Board of Directors Vice-Chair Dawn Danielson. RCHS spokesman John Van Zante debuted a video about the merger of Friends Of Count Animal Shelters into Rancho Coastal Humane Society.

FOCAS co-founders Peggy Howell and Sue Geller attended the Celebration along with several long-time FOCAS volunteers who continue to support the program under the RCHS umbrella.

A special tribute to San Diego County 3rd District Supervisor Pam Slater-Price commemorated her 20 years of dedication to residents of her district...both 2-footed or 4-footed. RCHS announced that the shelter's kitten nursery will be named in Slater-Price's honor to make sure that, "There will always be a place for Pam Slater-Price at Rancho Coastal Humane Society."

The highest bid in a live auction won a photo shoot for their dog and a spot in the next edition of photographer Andrew Grant's popular coffee table book "Rover."

Presenting sponsors of the Celebration were the Del Mar Country Club and Ark Antiques. "My Sister's Closet" was Gold sponsor and the Silver sponsor was the PETCO Foundation.

Proceeds from the "Celebration of Second Chances - FOCAS on the Future" will support Rancho Coastal Humane Society's programs for people and animals.
